Meet the person behind the simulations

Priyansha leads the musculoskeletal simulation work that shapes the design of the BAID device.

Using OpenSim, Priyansha models how small changes in seated inclination affect muscular engagement in the body. Her simulations are used to compare design parameters such as inclination magnitude and timing.

The results feed directly into the mechanical requirements of the system, helping the team make design decisions grounded in evidence.

Biomechanical simulation work underway

The team is running musculoskeletal simulations in OpenSim to study how seated inclination changes affect muscular engagement.

Simulation work in OpenSim is being used to compare design parameters for the device, including inclination magnitude and timing.

The results inform the mechanical requirements of the system rather than making claims about health outcomes.

The BAID concept is protected through a utility model

Intellectual-property protection for the core mechanical concept is now in place through a utility model.

The BAID concept — a device positioned at the bottom of a chair leg that varies in height in coordination with three others — is protected through a utility model.

BAID joins the Ford Smart Mobility Accelerator Programme

BAID is supported by Ford through the Ford Smart Mobility Accelerator Programme, creating the opportunity to develop the project further.

BAID is supported by Ford through the Ford Smart Mobility Accelerator Programme. The programme provides acceleration support for the continued development of the project.

The support helps the team advance research, simulation and prototyping work on the chair-leg device concept.
